The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court:

March 11:

MOHAMMAD CHOWDHURY, 18, of Brackstone Close, Reading, admitted drug driving on the A4 Bath Road, Reading, on September 24, 2019. Found to have cannabis in his blood. Also admitted possession of class B drug cannabis in Reading on September 24, 2019, and admitted using a vehicle without the correct insurance on the same occasion. Also admitted using a vehicle with the front offside wheel fitted with a pneumatic tyre which had the ply cord exposed. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity requirements and must undertake 100 hours of unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 33 months.

MATTHEW CLARK, 23, of Josephine Court, Reading, admitted drink-driving in Dowles House Road, Barkham, on February 21, 2020. Found to have 90mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and must undertake 60 hours of unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 24 months.

MATTHEW HOLMES, 27, of Charles Street, Newbury, admitted being in Newbury Railway Station while being drunk and disorderly on February 21, 2020. Fined £120 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs.

CONNOR MCCARTHY, 21, of Bath Road, Thatcham in West Berkshire, admitted drug driving at the BP Garage in Newbury on September 17, 2019. Found to have cannabis in his blood. also admitted using a vehicle on the same occasion without the correct insurance. Fined £850 and ordered to pay £55 victim surcharge. Must also pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 36 months.

MARK STEADMAN, 44, of Waylen Street, Reading, admitted stealing £69.37 worth of meat from Coop in Pangbourne, West Berkshire, on February 21, 2020. Given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £69.37 compensation. Also ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

BEN THOMPSON, 22, of Hawthorn Road, Newbury, admitted being drunk and disorderly in public at Newbury Railway Station on February 21, 2020. Fined £120 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Must also pay £85 court costs.

March 12:

JORDAN DAVIS, 29, of no fixed abode, admitted failing to comply with supervision requirements imposed following a period of detention, including not attending appointments on February 19, 2020, and February 26, 2020. Sentenced to 14 days in prison due to ‘wilful and persistent failure to comply with requirements of a community order’.

YASHWA BOVELL, 23, of Mendip Close, Reading, admitted drug driving in Royal Avenue in Calcot on October 10, 2019. Found to have cannabis in his blood. Fined £120 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Must also pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

HALEY SMITH, 18, of Trent Crescent, West Berkshire, admitted assault by beating in Newbury on August 26, 2019. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and must undertake 40 hours of unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £100 compensation.

KEITH TALLON, 46, of Station Road, West Berkshire, admitted drink-driving in Station Road, West Berkshire, on February 23, 2020. Found to have 98mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £540 and ordered to pay £54 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 24 months.
