READING has displayed a strong sense of community spirit since the outbreak of coronavirus, and one popular curry house is doing all it can to support the NHS and food banks at this difficult time.

Zyka has been providing free, weekly meals to the NHS by delivering food to The Royal Berkshire Hospital wards and departments.

The Tilehurst restaurant has also been offering a 50 per cent discount to all NHS staff.

Speaking about other ways in which they are contributing to the community at this time, owner Zak Khan said: "We are also donating around £300 worth of food to Reading's Food Bank at a time which is hugely important for all users and which has seen an increase during these times.

"Despite being an award winning restaurant, we also offer a free contactless delivery service as well as contactless collection, with our team in fact increasing so that we're able to carry out all tasks effectively."

He added that demand has continued to increase day by day, and that the restaurant is working on equipment as well as infrastructure to improve their offering and meet demand successfully.
