A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of rape after police stormed a street near Oxford Road.

Thames Valley Police said it was responding to reports of a rape after officers were spotted in Edinburgh Road, Reading, shortly before midday yesterday (9/5).

The force said the victim, a woman in her forties, was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Officers added a 34-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has since been arrested on suspicion of rape, being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and common assault of an emergency worker.

The man has since been released under investigation with regards to the report of rape.
