EVERY driver dreads having to deal with damage caused by potholes, which can be costly as well as annoying.

Reading Borough Council have recently announced measures to tackle the issue of potholes.

A huge £10million spending programme for road repairs will go ahead after the chief executive used emergency powers to push ahead with the plans.

The council will drive ahead with a new £10.4million investment package to repair road surfaces, pavements and footpaths over the next three years.

We have had a browse through some of the sites documenting potholes reported in Reading lately, and given the locations below.

According to Fix My Street, a total of six potholes have been reported from across the town since February.

We have listed a few of the reported pothole locations below.

1) Norfolk Road - reported April 22

A resident reported a pothole emerging at busy junction on Norfolk Road yesterday (April 22).


2) Tilehurst Road - reported March 8

Described as a 'cyclist death trap' a report was made in March about a 'massive strip of a pothole' which caused someone to fall off their bike and into the path of a car.
This was reported to Reading Borough Council.

3) Brunswick Street - reported March 6

Another dangerous pothole was allegedly reported twice, the latest report being in March.
The person who reported it said it damaged their car by ripping a tyre from a rim and breaking the suspension arm.
This was reported to the council.

4) Bath Road - reported February 25

A large pothole in the eastbound carriageway was reported in Bath Road in February.
This was reported to the council.

5) Russel Street, February 18

Multiple potholes were reported on February 18 in Russel Street.
The person who reported them said resurfacing is required, as the series of potholes covers the road going towards town.

6) Baydon Drive, February 15

A pothole was reported just before Baydon Drive and leading further up towards the A4.
This was reported to the council.
