THURSDAYS have become the pinnacle of the lockdown week for many key workers, when we all put on a united front to thank and give a boost to those on the frontline.

People across Berkshire, join with those further afield, to clap for our carers from their doorsteps, balconies, windows, and front gardens.

Each week, as the clock strikes 8pm, a round of applause rattles loudly through the streets of Reading and yesterday evening was no different.

People were out with their pots and pans, clapping away, and even some were firing off fireworks to say thank you to our NHS and everyone else who is working to care for our community during the coronavirus pandemic.

An incredible moment was captured on video outside our very own Royal Berkshire Hospital by nurse Jessica Andrew as the emergency services united to say thank you.

A convoy of police cars can be seen parked up with their sirens flashing blue along Craven Road, as well as a number of ambulances parked up nearby with the sirens and horns sounding as well.

The footage shows a group of hospital staff, coming outside to join in with the clap, and in an emotional moment can be heard realising just how much support had been rallied outside the hospital for them and their colleagues.

Make sure you get involved each week at 8pm, head outside your front doors (keeping a safe distance of 6ft away from everyone else) and join in on the applause to thank all our carers.
