AN ARMED ROBBERY of a corner-shop in Reading has led to police appealing for witnesses to step forward.

A Newsagents on Orts Road, Reading, was robbed at knifepoint by an attacker on Monday evening.

Despite the store-owner refusing to give the attacker his till, he successfully took it and left the scene with it.

A Spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Reading.

"At around 4.20pm on Monday 13, the offender, entered A&N Mini Market newsagents in Orts Road and demanded that the man behind the counter hand over the till and threatened him with a knife.

"The man refused and the offender managed to remove the till and leave the shop with it.

"The victim was not injured in the incident."

The offender is described as a black or Asian man, in his twenties, approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall and of medium/muscular build.

He was wearing a black face mask, white latex gloves, a grey North Face jacket with a hood and tight blue trousers.

Detective Constable Rosie March, of Reading CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who has information about this incident to please come forward.
