POLICE are still having to urge people in Reading to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

A week into the UK lockdown, police have been granted tougher measures to enforce on those who are not following isolation rules.

TVP Reading posted on Facebook today (March 30) to remind people to stay in and be safe.

The post reads: "PCSO’s Irvine and Hickmott have been out and about patrolling the town centre.

"Speaking to people, there are still many unnecessary visits being made so we are telling people to #stayathome #C9471 #C7596."

In the pictures, a few people can be seen walking around Reading town centre.

The government have said that non-key workers can only leave the house for medical supplies, food and exercise once per day.
