A strip club plans to convert one floor of its late-night site into a new piano bar.

New plans from the owners of Black Diamond, a strip club on Friar Street, could see the current venue split in two to allow for a bar with live piano music to open on the ground floor.

Live Investments Ltd have applied for a variation to the current premises licence to allow for the venue ‘Playlist Live’ to sell booze and put on entertainment including live piano music from 11am-1am.

Members of the public have until March 30 to write to the council in support or opposition to the plans.

You can write to Reading Borough Council, Licensing Section, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading, RG1 2LU or email licensing@reading.gov.uk.

One of the council’s licensing applications sub-committees will hold a meeting on the proposal later this year, with a date not yet established.

Black Diamond was approached for comment, but no-one was available to speak until Monday (March 16).

The strip club was granted an extension to its licence at a meeting last year, which allows lap dances to be performed until 5am.
