A MAN has been arrested after a teenager was assaulted in Newbury.

Thames Valley Police said the 'assault without injury' took place on Tuesday, March 3, at around 8:45pm

The force said a 17-year-old girl was assaulted on the footpath of the A339, St John's Road.

A stranger managed to separate the two people with his bicycle. He did not speak to either person according to police and when the victim threatened to call police the attacker fled.

It is believed the offender and the victim are known to each other.

The attacker is described as a 6ft 2ins, white, 20-year-old man with a slim build. He had shaved hair back and sides, and longer, thick, dark brown hair on top. Officers said the offender has youthful looking facial hair.
