A NUMBER of flood warnings are in place across Berkshire following the heavy rain overnight.

The Lower River Loddon is a particular cause for concern due to recent flooding in Winnersh.

Environmental health have reassured that property flooding is not expected however river levels are falling on the Lower River Loddon, following recent heavy rainfall from Storm Dennis.

Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected to continue, especially in the Sindlesham and Winnersh areas.

It comes after heavy rainfall in the early hours of this morning and response staff have been in the area clearing trash screens and checking defences.

The River Kennet from Thatcham down to Reading also has a flood alert and water levels remain particularly high due to high groundwater levels in the area.

The River Thames from Mapledurham to Sonning is currently flooded and water levels remain high.

Another flood alert applies to the River Thames from Pangbourne to Purley in West Berkshire with the flooding of low-lying land, footpaths and roads to continue.

Further flood alerts include:

  • River Pang from East Ilsley to Pangbourne and Sulham Brook
  • River Thames for Shiplake, Lower Shiplake and Wargrave
