HERE are the top five planning decisions made this week by Reading Borough Council.
Wesley Gate on Queens Road
Wesley Gate offices, on Queens Road, will have external alternations made to the outside of the building. This includes changes to the windows.
Other changes include to the balconies, and also roof lights will be added to the outside of the office building.
Hospital investigation
An investigation will be made on the external structural steel frame extension on a hospital building. One of the buildings are part of the north block on the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The hospital is on the London Road. Photos show some of the external steel frame is rusty.
Two-storey side extension
Plans were approved to build a two-storey side extension and rebuild a roof to provide loft accommodation. The plans are for a residential house on St Andrews Road, in Caversham.
Neighbours raised concerns about impact on daylight to their two living rooms that the extension would overlook. Another said “it would block the natural light to the windows of our kitchen”.
Change from offices to flats
Plans were approved to change an office building into flats. Sapphire Plaza, Watlington Street, will be converted into 85 flats.
The building fronts the River Kennet to the north. There will be 69 car parking spaces and 43 cycle parking spaces.
