The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court:

December 6:

JASON TURNER, 44, of Queens Road, Caversham, admitted speeding on the A40 West Wycombe Road, in High Wycombe, on May 3. Found to be doing 35mph in the 30mph road. Also admitted speeding on the A4155 Little Marlow Road on May 29, found to be doing 37mph in the 30mph zone. Fined £260 and ordered to pay £60 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £170 court costs. Six points added to driving licence.

PAWEL STASKIEWICZ, 34, of Padworth Avenue, Reading, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis when required by police in Reading on June 30. Also admitted driving while disqualified in Reading on June 30. Also admitted driving without the correct insurance in Reading on June 30. Given a community order to comply with 150 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge, and £600 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 40 months.

MIROSLAW KAMIANOWSKI, 61, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing three bottles of wine worth £22.50 from Marks and Spencer in Reading on November 16. Given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge.

ANDREW BROWN, 30, of no fixed abode, convicted harassment without violence by playing loud music and being argumentative in Newbury Library between March 17 and October 18. Given a conditional discharge for six months. Also made subject to a restraining order banning him from the library in person and by contacting the service. Also ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.

December 7:

USMAN AFZAL, 25, of Lamerton Road, Reading, admitted stealing two padded coats worth £198 from Mark and Spencer in Reading on October 9. Fined £100 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge.

KINGSLEY HAUGHTON, 43, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing seven bottles of Jack Daniels worth £175 from Sainsbury's in Reading on July 1. Admitted stealing three bottles of alcohol worth £77 from Marks and Spencer in Reading on December 6. Admitted stealing three bottles of alcohol worth £54 from Marks and Spencer in Reading on December 5. Admitted stealing three bottles of alcohol worth £54 from Marks and Spencer in Reading on December 4. Also admitted five bottles of Gordons Gin worth £80 from Waitrose in Reading on May 5, and admitted stealing four bottles of Courvoisier worth £118 from Waitrose on May 15. Admitted stealing four bottles of Captain Morgan Rum worth £68 from Sainsbury's in Reading on June 4. Sentenced to eight weeks in prison as 'defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders'. Also ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge.

December 9:

JADE RUSSELL, 31, of Orts Road, Reading, admitted assault by beating in Reading on December 7 and admitted criminal damage to a front door in Reading on December 7. Also admitted commission of a further offence while subject to a suspended sentence for the original offence of three theft charges. Sentenced to eight weeks of prison. Also ordered to pay £125 compensation.

LUKE BANNISTER, 23, of Western Road, Newbury, admitted criminal damage to a phone in Thatcham on November 3. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs.

ZAFRAN ARIF, 42, of Chiltern Crescent in Earley, convicted of sing a mobile phone while driving in Chalfont Way, Reading, on March 15. Fined £125 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge, plus £630 court costs. Six points added to driving licence.

TYLA JEMMOTT, 19, of Redruth Gardens, Reading, admitted failing to comply with a community order by not attending unpaid work on November 7 and November 13. Order to continue and fined £50.

KIERON MURPHY, 36, of Corwen Road, Tilehurst, admitted failing to comply with requirements of a community order by not attending unpaid work on September 23 and not attending an appointment on October 10. Community order requirements varied and includes 154 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £60 court costs.

LEON PEARSON, 21, of Elm Court, Sonning Common, admitted failing to comply with requirements of a community order by not attending unpaid work on August 28, and September 9. Fined £50.

LUKE WETHERALL, 34, of no fixed abode, admitted failing to comply with requirements of a community order by not attending rehabilitation activity on October 17, October 24, and October 31. Community order varied to include drug rehabilitation requirements and rehabilitation activity.

DEAN SHARP, 46, of Anstey Road, Reading, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis as a driver of a vehicle in Reading on July 8. Also admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis on August 30 in Reading. Also admitted failing to comply with a field impairment test in Reading on September 12. Sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity including 150 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge and £255 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 48 months.

December 10:

LUKASZ JASZTZYK, 36, of Newtown Road, Newbury, admitted assault by beating in Newbury on November 16. Admitted using violence to secure entry to a property in Newbury. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity, and made subject to a restraining order. Fined £120 and ordered to pay £120 compensation. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

JOSEPH CARROLL, 25, of Ashburton Road, Reading, admitted two charges of assault by beating in Cornwall on April 28. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity, and made subject to a restraining order. Also ordered to pay £100 compensation and ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge. Must pay £85 court costs.

December 11:

DAVE NEMBHARD, 47, of Basingstoke Road, Reading, admitted speeding in Buckskin Lane, Basingstoke, on April 3. Found to be doing 37mph in a 30mph zone. Fined £70 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge. Three points added to driving licence.  LUCIAN-NECULAI ARCIP, 24, of Tilehurst Road, Reading, admitted drink-driving in A33, Reading, on November 23, and admitted speeding over 40mph on the same occasion. Found to be doing 62mph in the 40mph zone. Fined £300 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 17 months.

SAQEEB WAHEED, 20, of The Drive in Earley, admitted drug-driving on the A3032 High Street in Twyford on June 22. Found to have cannabis in his blood. Admitted driving without the correct insurance on the same occasion. Fined £133 and ordered to pay £30.10 victim surcharge. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

DEAN FLYNN, 33, of Church Road, Earley in Reading, convicted of drink-driving in Wantage Road, Newbury, on June 22. Found to have 44mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £200 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £1,500 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

STUART COVENTRY, 34, of Newtown Road, Newbury, admitted stealing £13.20 worth of items from Marks and Spencer in Newbury on September 18. Admitted stealing items worth £80 from Marks and Spencer in Newbury on June 26. Also admitted stealing £25 worth of items from Marks and Spencer in Newbury on July 7. Admitted stealing £36 worth of items from Pets at Home in Newbury on July 22. Admitted stealing items from Tesco in Newbury on July 22, and stealing £6.57 worth of items from Poundstretcher on September 18. Also admitted commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge, the original charge being theft. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and must undertake 60 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £154.20 compensation.

TOMASZ OLSZEWSKI, 45, of Noring Road, Reading, admitted drink-driving in Sidmouth Street, Reading, on November 24. Found to have 49mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £490 and ordered to pay £49 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 16 months.

December 12:

RYAN FOLLAND, 28, of Knowle Close, Caversham, Reading, admitted assault by beating in Reading on November 16. Also admitted possession of class A drug cocaine in Reading on November 28. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and 60 hours unpaid work. Fined £120. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

JOHN FRANCIS, Christchurch Gardens, Reading, admitted being a passenger on public transport in Old Kent Road without paying the correct fare on December 5. Discharged conditionally for 12 months. Also ordered to pay £1.50 compensation and £20 victim surcharge.

RATISLAV ADREJCO, 31, of St Georges Road, Reading, admitted drink-driving in St George's Road on November 27. Found to have 56mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £286 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs. 10 points added to driving licence.

MIRZA BEG, 25, of Rothwell Walk in Caversham, admitted obstructing or resisting a constable in execution of their duty in Reading on May 29. Also admitted possession of class B drug cannabis in Reading on May 29. Fined £160 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs.

MOHAMMAD CHOWDHURY, 18, of Brackstone Close, Caversham in Reading, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis when asked by police in Reading on November 27. Given a community order to comply with 120 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 18 months.

A fundamental principle of justice is that it must be seen to be done. The principle of open justice is acclaimed on a number of grounds: as a safeguard against judicial error, to assist the deterrent function of criminal trials and to permit the revelation of matters of interest.
