A HEARTBROKEN dog owner organised a charity walk in memory of her "beautiful" Labrador Ella, who passed away last year.

Locals in Bracknell and a team of vets from Medivet took part in a charity walk to raise vital funds for the Animal Health Trust, who looked after Ella during her two-year battle with cancer.

To remember her beloved chocolate lab, heartbroken owner Sandra Moore decided to organise the fundraiser by inviting members of the community walk Ella's favourite routes in Virginia Water.

Ms Moore set up a just giving page, which has beaten its target of £2,000, as she wanted something good to come out of her loss by fundraising to help find a cure for canine cancer.

Bracknell News:

She posted on the fundraising page: "Unfortunately she lost the fight in October 2019. This little girl was my inspiration, my heart, my hero and throughout it all, she smiled everyday and loved everyone and everyone loved her. I miss seeing her beautiful face everyday.

Ella the Labrador got diagnosed in 2015 with Vulva Cancer and she had major surgery and went into remission, but unfortunately she then got diagnosed with anal sac carcinoma and liver cancer in 2018.

Sadly, Ella lost her battle in in October 2019.

Chris Felstead, Medivet Bracknell Harmans Water branch partner, said: "Everyone here at the practice remembers Ella very fondly and wanted to show their support for Sandra. "We were delighted to see that the fund-raising target of £2,000 was comfortably beaten and have since decided to name one of the kennels in the practice after Ella in her memory.”

Local pet photography specialists Kerto Studio also supported the fund-raising initiative by taking pictures of dogs on the walk and donating all proceeds to Sandra’s Just Giving page.
