THERE is just 50 days to go until thousands of runners will slip on their Lycra and tie up their laces for Reading Half Marathon.

Some 15,000 competitors are expected to take to the streets in Reading for the annual half marathon on Sunday, April 5.

Organisers say although entries are open, places are getting full up fast.

Race director Judith Manson said: "The countdown is on and with 50 days to go until race weekend, exciting plans are in full swing.

"Entries are growing by the day, charity fundraisers are taking on incredible 2020 challenges, elite athletes are hunting down their fastest season race time and newcomers will be lacing up for their first 13.1 mile race experience.

"We know that thousands of you will also be using our fabulous race as the perfect taper for the 40th London Marathon, we can’t wait to welcome you to the start line.

Reading Half Marathon will follow with entry at £42 including a finisher's T-shirt, medal, and goody bag.
