Bewley Homes has officially launched its latest development, Watership Place in Whitchurch, with two of its first buyers as the guests of honour.

Helen and Roy Hughes, who are due to move in to a three-bedroom property, joined the Watership Place sales team to cut the ribbon and declare the development open to the public.

Also present to take a look around a newly-opened four-bedroom show home were Kate Steven, headteacher of Whitchurch Primary School, and her teacher colleague Amanda Wersby. The Bewley development, named after the novel Watership Down by the late local author Richard Adams, is a collection of two, three and four bedroom properties. The first phase of homes in the village, Owsla Park, proved extremely popular with buyers, and is now fully occupied.

Mrs Hughes explained that she and her husband are downsizing into a smaller home after 30 years in the village. She said: “We currently live at the top of a steep hill, and are not as athletic as we used to be! We’re in a four bedroom house with a large garden, and we can’t really manage it the way we’d like to. So we liked the idea of moving into a new build where you don’t have to do anything to it. Plus we’re staying in the area that we love.”

The grandmother of seven added that the Bewley sales team have been “absolutely brilliant”. She said: “I can’t recommend them highly enough. It’s not just on a surface level, they are really rooting for us to move in. We’ve had so much help from them and were very pleased to be the guests of honour at the launch.”

Bewley Homes’ Sales and Marketing Director Elaine Stratford said: “It’s always an exciting moment to officially launch a new development, as it’s the culmination of years of dedicated hard work by so many people.

“We were delighted to welcome Kate and Amanda from the primary school to tour the show home, and to have Helen and Roy cut the ribbon. We thrilled the couple chose to settle at Watership Place and we’re sure they’ll be really happy here.”

Prices start at £314,950 for two-bedroom homes, £374,950 for three-bedroom properties and £524,950 for four-bedroom houses.

Purchasers at Watership Place will be able to take advantage of the Bewley Bond. This initiative is aimed at helping customers reserve a new property months ahead of schedule, minimising the stress of the moving process. Amongst other incentives, the buyer will be able to reserve their new home for just £500 and receive up to £1,000 plus VAT towards legal fees. Meanwhile, they’ll benefit from £500 in vouchers with which they can personalise their new home.
