MORE than £69,000 worth of Tesco Clubcard points are going to waste in Reading, with their expiration date creeping up at end of February.

The supermarket says the vouchers, of which have been sat unused for up to two years, need to be used by February 29.

The Tesco Clubcard system involves shoppers collecting 'points' every time they use Tesco branches and associated companies, to be used later.

The total value of Reading’s unused Clubcard vouchers could cover the cost of 17,272 pizzas from Pizza Express, 5,527 family cinema tickets at Cineworld, or 5,757 day tickets to Thorpe Park.

Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: "Clubcard is our way of helping customers to get the very best value when shopping with us, and we want to help them make the most of it.

"We also understand that our customers lead busy lives and may forget about the points and vouchers that they’ve built up over time.

"With a large number set to expire at the end of the month, we are encouraging people to check the Clubcard app to see if any of these unused vouchers are theirs."
