A POTTERY painting cafe in Tilehurst is "definitely not closing down" says the owner, despite the shop being on the market.

The Mad Hatters Pottery Painting Cafe on School Road, Tilehurst, has been put on the market by owner, Fiona Sharman, but she has reassured customers the shop will not be closing.

She explained she has "a lot going on privately" and was "thinking about my family and my future".

She said: “What I was doing was putting it out there to see what it’s worth and to see if anyone is interested in it.”

She explained it's just for forward thinking and said “it’s definitely not closing down".

Ms Sharman has been running her business for eight years and the Tilehurst shop will have been open for five years this April.

She said the staff and business are like "family" to her, explaining she would only move on from the business if the new owners kept it as a pottery cafe.

"It's really important to me that it stays there," she added calling it an "asset to the community".

Ms Sharman said "no amount of money" would cause her to sell the business to another trade.
