Kelly and Russell Price downsized from a larger four bedroom house to the three storey four bedroom ‘Darwin’ style home at Crest Nicholson’s Nightingale Fields.

They moved with their young daughter Everley, 3, and son Elliott, 6, alongside their pointer-cross rescue dog Hughie. The family decided to move to Nightingale Fields to be closer to their Grandmother who also lives at the development.

Although the Prices’ were in a bigger home in Finchampstead, Kelly and her family haven’t had to compromise their lifestyle in the new home. She said: “We took our time looking through the different styles available and found that the Darwin ticked all our boxes, especially as it was going to be our forever home. Although we’re in a smaller space, the kids have bedrooms they can grow into and we have our own space on the top floor. The fourth bedroom is a playroom for now but it’s great to have a space that can change as they get older.”

The ground floor living and dining space was a key selling point for Kelly, 41, and Russell, 45, with Kelly saying, “The kitchen is great and everything feels new and clean, which is a big advantage of a new build home. The tiling in the downstairs area was perfect for us, as with young kids who love to splash everywhere this is easily cleaned.”

The location was a deciding factor for the family, in particular, the close proximity to the popular Bohunt School which Kelly described as being “perfect for when our kids grow up as it’s a good school.” Kelly continued: “The whole development feels like a community with lovely welcoming neighbours. It’s also so important for us that the kids can play outside and I’m so happy that Elliott can go to the park with a couple of his friends all day. It’s wonderful for me too as it’s only a 15-minute walk to work in Hogwood.”

Kelly and her family used the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan to move into their new home. Kelly said: “It wouldn’t have been possible to move into our forever home without the scheme being available to us. It allowed us to move in just around the corner from Russell’s mother which is great for everyone.”
