“She was an energetic 75-year-old, living with her partner in Thatcham.

"She led a very full and vital life, full of family, hobbies and travel and was a popular lady in the community.

“She was the centre of a very large and close knit family and we are heartbroken.

"She was taken from us in such a terrible, unnecessary and sudden way and it has shattered our lives."

Thames Valley Police said Ms Pinnock died at the scene. It was also reported at the time that her dog Buzz had fled the scene and was missing in the hours following, although later found his way home.

The tribute added: "We are making a personal appeal to anyone who might have witnessed the accident or have any information they feel might relevant.
