A HEROIC bus driver from Reading stopped driving to help an elderly woman in Lower Earley.
Mahesh Rai was driving a Reading Buses double deck bus when he noticed an older woman fall badly off the side of a pavement.

The 54 year old stopped the bus, informing his passengers why and immediately dashed to the woman's rescue.
A couple of kind customers also got off the bus to assist Mahesh, who was said afterwards to have been ‘very kind and caring,’ spending quite some time with the woman to make sure she was feeling well enough before he continued with his journey.

After the accident, the woman's daughter wrote to Reading Buses to express her thanks to Mahesh, who has been a Reading Buses driver for three years.
She also nominated him for a Star of the Month award, which HR Director Caroline Anscombe described as ‘very well deserved.’
She addeD: "On behalf of the company, we would like to thank Mahesh and say well done."
