A WOMAN was left with a swollen eye and a headache after a man attacked her and another victim outside a newsagent.

CCTV images have been released following the incident in St Mary's Butts, which saw the two 24-year-old victims, a man and a woman, approached by a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s at around 4am on Thursday, October 3.

The pair were standing outside a closed newsagent when the unknown suspects arrived, and following a brief discussion between the four, the male suspect became aggressive.

He began hitting the victims several times before both suspects left the scene.

The woman suffered a swollen eye and a headache and was provided treatment at Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Investigating officer, PC Amber Timmis, based at Reading police station, said: "I am appealing to anyone who has information that could assist with this investigation to get in touch.
