January can be a gloomy time, with post-Christmas blues settling in, New Year's Resolutions proving hard to stick to and the miserable weather continuing.

Many people opt for spa treatments to kick the winter slump, hoping a soothing massage will leave them feeling like they are relaxing on a sunny beach far away.

"Many come to us seeking purely physical relaxation from their treatment but leave feeling mentally and emotionally much calmer, too.

"Our town centre location means we are easy to reach, but our peaceful and relaxing ambience means that, once inside, you will feel far removed from the hustle and bustle of town life."

One reviewer said: "I just had my first massage with Ayurveda centre and I cannot describe how happy I am for making the choice of the Abhyanga full body massage and for choosing this place.

"My therapist was Caroline and she performed one of the most professional sessions I have ever had.

"She gave good advice and created a beautiful atmosphere and experience."

Another said: "I have been there a few times in the past and found it a great experience to completely relax and let go.

"But I have used them more recently for pregnancy massages and it is fab, they really know how to relax some of the tensions in my body but in a safe way."

"Can't wait to go back and I'm going to book my mum in, too!"

5) H Room, Cross Street: 4*

Reading Chronicle:

Another one in the town centre.

One reviewer said: "I have been visiting the H: Room since the 1990 off and on.
