A CAT has been found dead near Reading's Prospect Park thought to have been killed by the 'UK Animal Killer'.

The mutilated cat was found on New Year's Day according to the South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) group.

A post on SNARL's Facebook explained: "The injuries and presentation were consistent with those inflicted by the UK Animal Killer and we are therefore ruling this attack into the investigation."

There will be leafleting and enquiries taking place and the group announced the police have been informed.

The post continued: "Our heartfelt condolences to the cat's owner, with whom we are in touch.

"Our advice remains to keep cats in at night if possible and ensure outdoor hutches are securely padlocked.

"RIP little one. We will get justice for you."

A series of incidents known as the UK animal killer killings are being investigated by the SNARL team in conjunction with other organisations.
