DETECTIVES hunting a man after a 71-year-old pensioner was shoved on a bus have now identified a suspect.

An appeal for information was made by police, with a photograph of the suspect taken from CCTV footage of the incident on Oxford Road, Reading, in the hopes of identifying him.

Thames Valley Police announced this morning the suspect has now been identified and are no longer appealing for information.

A Thames Valley Police Spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police has identified a man in CCTV that was released to the public and media in connection with an assault on a bus in Reading.

"The victim, a 71-year-old man was assaulted on the number 17 bus in Oxford Road at about 11.40pm on Saturday 9 November this year.

"A man approached the victim and then pushed him to the floor, causing him to lose consciousness. Thankfully, the victim has made a full recovery.

"The force released CCTV of man who may have vital information in connection with the incident.

"The man has now been identified, therefore we no longer need to make an appeal for information.

"Thank you to everyone who provided information and shared our appeal."
