MUCH-LOVED pop band McFly will be partying in The Paddock at Newbury Racecourse in July next year.

With seven UK number-one singles, five top-ten albums, six sell-out tours and ten million records sold worldwide, McFly are without question one of the most significant British pop acts of the twenty-first century - and they will be returning to the stage together at Newbury Racecourse’s Party in The Paddock on Saturday, July 18.

Since hitting the big time as the youngest band ever to have a debut album go straight to number one — beating The Beatles’ long-standing record — Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd have become one of our best-loved bands, not to mention major stars in their own right.

Tom has become a wildly bestselling children’s author; Danny a TV mainstay with his regular appearances as a judge on The Voice Kids; Dougie has combined his burgeoning acting career with a passionate role as an environmental campaigner; and Strictly winner Harry has wowed West End audiences, starring in the hit dance show Rip it Up.

McFly rose to fame after fellow band Busted helped launch them by inviting them to tour in 2004.

McFly’s debut album Room on the 3rd Floor debuted at number one in the UK Album Chart and is certified as double platinum.

The band’s second album, Wonderland, which was released in 2005, also charted at number 1 in the UK - making them the youngest band to have topped the UK album charts twice.

Having taken a break after touring as the pop phenomenon that was McBusted — the band return with a spectacular live show playing their best-loved mega-hits such as All About You, Obviously, Star Girl, One for the Radio and Shine a Light.

Tickets for their Newbury show go on general sale on December 20 at 9am.

Harriet Collins, director of marcomms for Newbury Racecourse, said: “We are really excited to be announcing McFly as our first music act for 2020 and hopefully will attract families of all ages.

“They join an elite roster of other artists we have enjoyed over the years.

“We are always looking to attract acts which complement the excellent racing taking place and are in no doubt that Dougie, Harry, Danny and Tom will ‘obviously’ get everyone to their feet at the end of the day.”

This year’s Party in The Paddock saw one of the best bands of the 70s and 80s, Madness, delight the crowds.

The popular event has also seen big names like Craig David and Tom Jones perform on stage.
