GENEROUS schoolchildren collected food to help struggling families have something to eat over the festive period.

Children and staff at Bright Horizons Forest Park Bracknell Day Nursery and Preschool donated tins of food, crisps, drinks, chocolates and more for the local Bracknell food bank.

The collection was a talking point for the children to understand there are families who struggle to buy food daily.

As well as this, they understood why it was important to help others in the community who are less fortunate ahead of the Christmas and New Year period.

This is not the first time the nursery has collected food for the foodbank, explains the deputy nursery manager.

Laura Gardner said: "It’s a great cause that we helped with last year.

“This year instead of one box full of items, we had over five boxes.”

The children had a discussion about why it’s important to help and give items to the food bank to help those struggling over the festive period.
