AN ADORABLE reindeer readying himself for Christmas is the design that won the hearts of judges in this year's Launchpad Christmas Card Competition.

Ellie Clark, from Tilehurst, impressed the team at the homelessness charity Launchpad with her creative character drawing of Rudolph.

The five-year-old artist created a snowy scene with Rudolph front and centre, along with colourful presents and the decorated Christmas tree in the background.

The charity, based in Reading, called on children aged between four and nine to send in their Christmas card creations.

The festive art competition hoped to spark a bit of festive inspiration for youngsters to have the winning design featured on their own Christmas cards.

As the winning design, Ellie's creation will also be in the programme for tonight's Carols by Candlelight 2019 hosted by Launchpad.

The annual carol service will take place at 6pm at Reading Minster, St Mary's Butts.

Money from the event will raise vital funds to help Launchpad continue its efforts to prevent homelessness.
