HOUSEHOLDS have been left without power for almost 20 hours since yesterday evening.

Disruption was reported throughout the evening, through the morning and into the afternoon, across a number of postcodes in Purley.

Scottish and Southern Electric reports that power was lost shortly after 6pm and some homes left without electricity until shortly before 2pm today.

Engineers had been on the scene of the fault throughout the night and hoped to restore power originally by 10pm.

It was then hoped power would be back on for all homes by 5am, then midday, but power was finally restored by 2pm.

A specialist cable repair team has been called in to help fix the fault.

It impacted homes in RG88DP, RG88AE, and RG88DL in Purley on Thames.
