A WOMAN who saved the life of an 11 day old baby has since been given an award.

Linda Price, a Health Visitor for Newbury, was conducting a routine visit to the new family-of-three when their baby started to struggle breathing and turned blue, and became unresponsive.

Ms Price was the only person there with any medical training and tried her best efforts to revive the child, calming the worried parents whilst providing basic life support for the newborn.

Thankfully, the newborn began breathing again, and made a full recovery after being brought to hospital by ambulance services.

The NHS "Excellence in Practice" award was given to her on Friday, October 11, by the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as part of their "All-Star Awards", an event celebrating the inspirational stories of people who have done great things for their communities across Berkshire.

Chief executive Julian Emms said: "We have 4,500 people and they do extraordinary things every day and sometimes there’s a danger that we can take that for granted.

"Tonight we heard some really amazing things that people have done, some the audience couldn’t quite believe, and it took peoples’ breath away.

"It took my breath away, and I’m incredibly proud. We don’t celebrate what we’re proud of enough and tonight was about making that right and having a good time as well.”
