WILTSHIRE Police said it continues to investigate reports of an assault in McDonald’s after Saturday night’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Police officers and security guards could be seen running through the crowds towards the Canal Walk fast food restaurant after 6.15pm.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault – then swiftly de-arrested.
Wiltshire Police had initially said the man had been arrested as a result of a misunderstanding.
Now, the force has said it is continuing to investigate the alleged assault. The victims were a man, 25, and a 19-year-old woman.
In a statement, a Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: “We are investigating an alleged assault which happened in McDonald's, in the Brunel Shopping Centre, at around 6.15pm yesterday (16/11).
“Anyone who saw what happened or who has any information is asked to call 101.
“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
