The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court:

September 3:

MATTHEW TARRANT, 41, of Redhatch Drive in Earley, admitted assault by beating in Earley on June 30. Given a community order including rehabilitation activity and must undertake 80 unpaid work. Also made subject to a restraining order and must pay £90 victim surcharge, plus £390 court costs.

EVERSON MACHINGAIFA, 38, of Lulworth Road in Reading, admitted failing to provide a specimen on November 17, 2018, in Reading. Sentenced to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 18 months due to previous record. Must pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £200 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 24 months.

NICHOLAS ROBERT BYRNES, 46, of Bath Road, Reading, admitted using a vehicle without the correct insurance on February 25 along the Bath Road, in Twyford. Fined £266 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for six months.

CATHERINE HALLIDAY, 46, of Rembrandt Way in Reading, admitted using a mobile phone will driving in Elliots Way in Caversham, on February 9. Fined £40 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge, plus £40 court costs. Disqualified from driving for six months.

REZA KHALGHOLIMOGHADDAM, 43, of Alexandra Road in Reading, admitted using a mobile phone while driving along Castle Street in Reading on February 12. Fined £100 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for six months.

SUJAAN KINGSLEY, 21, of Lowerfield Road in Caversham, convicted of using a trailer or vehicle with tyres with ply/cord exposed along Baker street on December 29, 2018. Also convicted of using a vehicle on January 4 on Hossier Street in Reading without the correct insurance. Fined £1,100 and ordered to pay £110 victim surcharge and £1,250 court costs. Disqualified from driving for six months and given three points on licence.

EMMA RUSSELL, 38, of Digby Road in Newbury, convicted of failing to give information relating to the driver of a vehicle when asked between March 6 and April 3 in Banbury, and another charge for the same offence between March 12 and April 9 in Banbury. Fined £1,320 and ordered to pay £96 victim surcharge, plus £170 court costs. Disqualified from driving for six months and six points added to driving licence.

September 4:

CURT LANCASTER, 20, of no fixed abode, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Reading Railway Station on August 7. Also admitted failing to surrender to custody on August 22 in Reading. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge.

CHANTELLE FLITCROFT, 18, of Kendrick Road in Reading, admitted assault by beating of a police officer on August 22 in Wokingham. Given a community order including rehabilitation requirements and must undertake 100 hours of unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £100 compensation.

MARTIN GALLAGHER, 52, of Blandford Road in Reading, admitted being in possession of amphetamine on June 19 in Reading. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge plus £85 court costs.

RYAN MOORE, 20, of Newcastle Road in Reading, admitted assault by beating of a police officer in Reading on August17. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £21 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs.

CALLUM WAITE-O’LEARY, 21, of Scott close in Emmer Green, Reading, admitted using threatening or abusive behaviour to likely cause harassment, alarm or distress in reading on August 17. Given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs.

MICHELLE BRADSHAW, 44, of Horsemoor in Chieveley, Newbury, admitted drink-driving on August 5 on the A34 northbound carriageway at Beedon. Found to have 159mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Given a community order including alcohol treatment requirements, and rehabilitation activity. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 36 months.

A fundamental principle of justice is that it must be seen to be done. It is established in the UK that court cases should be heard in public.
