HERE’S our round-up of the most important planning applications decided in Reading this week.
Remove ACM-cladding on social housing
Permission was given to remove ACM-cladding on Crossway Point, Norwood Road. The social housing block will have its cladding replaced with non-combustible cladding.
Three other buildings in Reading also have the same cladding — the same as that on Grenfell tower. Two are having cladding currently removed.
Knock down an empty building and replace with a huge hotel and office tower
Permission was given to knock down a six-storey empty retail and office building on 29 Station Road, and to replace it with a huge 22-storey tower.
The new tower will include shops on the ground floor, a 135-bedroom hotel on the first to 16th floors, and offices on the 17th to 21st floors.

Change offices into flats
Permission was given to change the first, second and third storeys of a building on 1 Station Road/22 Friar Street into 12 flats.
Dog grooming in garden
Permission was given for the existing use of a garden building for a dog grooming service. Up to six dogs a day are allowed. The service includes bathing and clipping.
The address was on Midsummer Meadow, Caversham.
New flats in Caversham
Permission was given for a new two-storey building on Abbotsmead Place in Caversham. The building will have two one-bed flats, space to park cars and bikes, and bin storage.
