A BUTCHERS in Tilehurst has gone into liquidation after more than 30 years of trading.

Tilehurst Village Butchers, in The Triangle, has gone into liquidation and the owner, Chris Watts, took to Facebook to make the announcement.

He said: "It is with great regret I have to inform you that Tilehurst Village Butchers has gone into liquidation.

"We have been struggling for the last couple of years and tried anything and everything to stop this happening.

"I have been there for 30+years and this has been the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make but unfortunately it was the only choice."

Mr Watts continued to thank all of his loyal customers over the years.

He said: "I would like to thank everyone who has shopped with us over the years you weren’t just customers you were friends I will miss you all.

"It wasn’t just a job it was my life."

Regular customer, Paul Johnson, expressed his sadness at the news.

He said: "I have used the shop for the last six odd years.

"It is a great shame he gone out of business.

"It is a top-class butchers.

"We have got a Co-op up here but we haven’t got any quality butchers in the area anymore."

Anybody who has saved in the butcher's Christmas club will be refunded over the next few weeks and will be emailed with details.

Mr Watts added: "I would also like to say a big thank you to all the people that have messaged me on Facebook.

"Thanks again and sorry."
