DOZENS of important buildings have been given new special protection by Bracknell Forest Council (BFC).
Fifty structures across Bracknell Forest have been deemed to have local ‘architectural or historic interest’ by council bosses and added to a new list which will help guard heritage sites in the borough.

This means it will be tougher for developers to have planning applications approved which affect these sites.
Councillor Chris Turrell, BFC’s planning boss, said: “The list is important to but it is not closed so other buildings can still be considered.
“It highlights buildings which are important locally.
“It gives that little bit of consideration when a planning application comes forward in that area.”

The list, which will inform BFC’s upcoming local plan, was created after consultation with Bracknell Forest society and four different parish councils.
It is different from the sites added to the National Heritage List structures, which features almost 300 different buildings and structures from Bracknell Forest.
BFC chiefs gave the new collection the green light on Tuesday, October 22, but other sites can still be added to the list through requests.
