DRIVERS involved in a crash on the A420 today have escaped with minor injuries.

There was congestion on the busy road for much of the morning, after a van and a car towing a caravan crashed near Southmoor.

The collision happened at about 7.40am on the westbound road, resulting in the car leaving the road and the caravan ending up in a ditch.

South Central Ambulance Service said it sent two ambulances to the scene, having been contacted by Thames Valley Fire Control Room.

A spokesman said: "The occupants of the car had been released with the help of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"They had fortunately only sustained minor injuries and were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital."

There were queues around the blocked area for hours, until the debris was cleared late this morning.
