Lion President Paul Norman, said: “Woodley and Earley Lions are delighted to support this exciting new scheme designed to help around 200 disadvantaged children in Woodley."

Fundraising manager Annette Honeyball thanked the Lions for their generous support.

She said: "First Days takes donated toys, clothes, equipment and school uniform and redistributes them to families struggling to make ends meet.

"This award goes a long way towards helping us purchase new uniforms where there are shortages in donated clothing.”

This new project involves the provision of school uniforms to secondary school pupils attending Bulmershe School and Waingels College in Woodley.

Families in poverty are referred to First Days by health and support professionals.

All clothing is donated, although sometimes has to be purchased new, and gifted to these families.
