POLICE have called for an end to violence against officers after a string of Oxfordshire attacks in just 24 hours.
The attacks follow the death of PC Andrew Harper who was killed whilst responding to reports of a burglary near Sulhamstead, last month.
Thames Valley Police Cherwell wrote a Facebook post on Saturday detailing the assaults on five officers.
This included a Bicester PC being punched in the face and a Banbury officer threatened with an axe "by the very person who called us to help him".
It added: "Then when dealing with a report of a domestic incident three officers are kicked at, scratched and bitten by a female offender."

The officer who posted the plea said "this has got to stop", writing: "Whilst we recognise our job exposes us to violence and we are trained to deal with this we are human too.
"We have families who care about us.
"We put our uniforms on, kiss our kids goodbye and try and do the best job we can."
They added: "It is not acceptable the level of violence that is being shown towards us.
"Whether you agree with what we do or not - we are simply doing a job."
