A YOUNG boy from Reading will represent Great Britain in an international motocross competition taking place in Belgium next month.

Charlie Richmond, 11, from Tilehurst, will be taking part in the Under 21s MX of Nations in Belgium on October 5 and 6.

Charlie has been picked as one of three top 65cc riders in the UK to represent his home country at 'Coupe d L'aviner'.

Earlier this year, Charlie was named one of the best junior motocross riders in the world after placing 34th in an international competition for 65cc riders held in Italy.

His mother, Karen Smith, said: "I feel Charlie has had such a great year this year and been recognised as one of the fastest riders in the UK and it's great he’s been invited to ride for team GB for a second time."

She explained Charlie has also been crowned British 65cc rider of the year 2019 and expressed her gratitude to Charlie's school, Theale Green, for their ongoing support.

Charlie will be heading out to Belgium with a team of nine GB riders racing in different categories.

Charlie said: "I feel really happy that I’ve been invited to ride for team GB again.

"The track looks cool and I think the team is strong I am hoping to get top 20 but I just want to go out there and have fun and do my best for my country."
