Cherie Potter, a director at The Flower Shop, said: "We feel that this is a landmark and a great achievement and its very important to celebrate as a family business."

The Flower Shop has been run by the team since 1999, but the shop itself has been in Caversham for well over 40 years.

Mrs Potter explained: "We are a family run business who take pride in meeting the floral needs of each and every one of our customers - we pride ourselves in customer care.

"I love it when we make a difference.

"We have lots of different occasions that we cater for, some being really happy but also some being really sad and I like to think we provide the best possible care to our customers and design the best flower arrangements for people so they will be very proud of what they have ordered with us, and would recommend us to friends and family.

"This is very important to us all."

In conjunction with their birthday celebrations, the team are also giving back to the community by fundraising for Emmer Green boy Charlie Ilsley.

Charlie has been cleared of cancer but to prevent it from returning, he is now having Immunotherapy in Germany, which costs a total of £47,000.

To fundraise for his treatment, Mrs Potter set up an online auction which has so far raised over £1,400.

There will also be a raffle during the open day where The Flower Shop will be providing the prizes, one of which is a 50 rose bouquet.

Mrs Potter said: "I cant even imagine what Charlie and his family have been through.

"We really wanted to help a local charity so are happy to support Charlie and his family."
