A VULNERABLE elderly woman had kitchen cleaner sprayed in her face by thugs who broke into her home and stole her jewellery.

Three burglars snuck into her home in Rotherfield, Emmer Green at 8pm on Monday, September 16 and snatched her jewellery off the victim.

The woman in her 70s had kitchen cleaner sprayed into her face by one of the men, before they left.

She did not sustain any injuries and did not need to go to the hospital.

One offender is described as having tanned skin, around 5ft 9ins tall and a stocky build.

He had a white and blue cloth over his face and was dressed in a bomber style jacket, with blue and white squares on it.

He is believed to be aged in his early 30s and spoke with an eastern European accent.

The second offender also had tanned skin, around 6ft tall and of a lean build. He was clean-shaven and aged in his late 20s.

He was dressed in a hip-length, khaki coloured jacket and spoke with an eastern European accent.

The victim is unable to recall a description of the third offender.

Investigating officer, PC James Bone, of Reading police station, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim.

"I am appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and help us with our enquiries while we investigate.

"It happened in an area and at a time where it could realistically have been seen by members of the public.

"I would like to appeal in particular to a man who was seen parked in a white car in Rotherfield Way shortly after the incident and saw the victims leaving the property. I believe this person is a potential witness.

"I am also appealing to motorists who were on Rotherfield Way between 7.30pm and 8.30pm who may have dash-cam footage to review it and check if there is anything significant on there.
