A READING company was recently recognised with a prestigious international trade award.

Berkeley Engineering Consultants (BEC) received the Queen's Award for International Trade on September 6 at its Reading engineering hub.

Presenting the award was the Queen's representative, Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, to the CEO Irteza Piracha.

The Queen’s Awards are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses, recognising outstanding achievement among UK-based companies in four categories which also include innovation, promoting opportunity (through social mobility) and sustainable development.

BEC is one of just a handful of organisations supporting the oil and gas sector to have been recognised in The Queen’s Awards this year.

From the engineering office in Reading, BEC employs engineering specialists delivering high value optimal cost driven client solutions.

It operates from facilities worldwide including Saudi Arabia, Oman, India and Pakistan and is exploring further growth opportunities in the region.

BEC’s CEO, Irteza Piracha, said: “Receiving The Queen’s Award today with our staff at the Reading engineering hub represents another milestone to personally share with the BEC UK team and our global employees. "We have built our success on offering an innovative and flexible approach to supporting our clients who are some of the world’s biggest oil and gas companies.

"Reading plays an important role in aligning the engineering output and design for major international clients.

"A very special thank you to each of the employees and their families for their belief in the owners and their vision."

Now in its 53rd year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the UK, with winning businesses able to use the esteemed Queen’s Awards emblem for the next five years.
