AN 'amazing' doctor who worked in Woodley for 20 years has achieved an outpouring of support after receiving an OBE.

Former and present patients of well-known GP, doctor Debbie Milligan, have praised her on the accolade, which was awarded to her this week by former Prime Minister Theresa May for her services to public health.

Dr Milligan currently works at Swallowfield Medical Practice, and has a particular interest in emergency and palliative care.

Commenting on The Chronicle's Facebook post of the story, floods of responses demonstrated the doctor's popularity.

Katrina Hearne said: "Well deserved. Great doctor sadly missed from our surgery."

Donna Edwards commented: "A lovely doctor.

"She helped my dad last year when he was seriously ill, we were so grateful to Dr Milligan."

Many echoed the view that Dr Milligan is missed in the Woodley community, with Paula Seymour saying: "Wonderful lady and amazing GP.

"We miss you in Woodley! Congratulations Dr Milligan."

The dedicated doctor was recognised for her work in Theresa May's resignation honours list, which acknowledged deserving people across the country for their efforts and granted them a British Honours title.

Laura Porter commented: "Very well deserved, she was my doctor from birth into early twenties, congratulations Dr Milligan", while Carole Johnson added: "Congratulations! Solely missed in Woodley."

Anit Lanu said: "Dr Milligan really deserves this award she is amazing in every way.

"She is missed so much in Woodley I wish she would come back bless her. Congratulations Dr Milligan."

Carol Hamilton said: "Congratulations. Well deserved - still miss you.

"Was always very supportive to me."
