A MAN was left with serious stab wounds after two men attacked him with glass bottles Reading on Sunday, September 1.

Police are appealing for three specific potential witnesses following the incident, but have said it occurred at an 'unknown location'.

The incident occurred late in the evening at an unknown location in the town, but three members of the public came to the victim’s aid and took him to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Staff at the hospital then reported the incident to police.

The victim was approached by a group of males, and two of them stabbed him to the top of his head with glass bottles.

He sustained several wounds to his neck and hands.

The two attackers were both described as black men, and they were in a group of four men in total.

The victim also had his mobile phone stolen during the attack.

Investigating officer detective constable Yong Chung of Force CID based at Reading police station, said: “We are still in the early stages of this investigation, and at this time, the victim is unable to recall where the incident took place.

“However, we do know that three people, two men and a woman, came to the victim’s aid and took him to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.”

The woman was wearing a brown jacket and glasses and had shoulder length brown hair.

One of the men was wearing a black t-shirt, a white baseball cap and denim shorts and the other was wearing a black top with orange lining.

DC Chung added: “I am very keen to speak to these three people, whose quick actions to take the victim for treatment are to be commended.

“The victim’s injuries are thankfully not life-threatening, but he sustained extensive cuts to both of his hands, a broken little finger as well as stab wounds on his neck and head.

“I need to know where the victim was picked up from as this will be key to my investigation.

“If you believe you are any of these three people, I am urging you to please call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43190270378.

“Alternatively, you can contact police online, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“Although details of the location of the assault are unknown, I am also appealing to anybody that believes they witnessed an altercation in Reading on Sunday evening involving the young man, who is an Asian male, and a group of up to four men.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, may be crucial in our investigation.”
