POLICE are still investigating a Tilehurst assault which left a man with 'serious injuries' on Wednesday (August 28).

The victim was taken to hospital after an incident in Overdown Road.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a small car had been involved in a collision with a white van, and that the driver of the van was then 'assaulted with a weapon'.

The Chronicle has approached Thames Valley Police for updates on the man's condition and the nature of the weapon used, but police have responded that the incident is 'ongoing', with no further details available.

It is unknown whether anybody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said on Wednesday: "We were called to Oxford Road, Tilehurst today to reports of an assault.

"We sent to the scene an ambulance crew and an ambulance officer who was treating a male in his 30s.

"He was assessed and treated at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment to potentially serious injuries."
