READING'S Burton store is closing soon.

Retail tycoon Sir Philip Green announced 23 store closures across the country back in May.

The town's Dorothy Perkins and Burton are among them.

A van could be seen outside the Broad Street shop this morning, with sale stock being loaded.

A note in the window says 'We're Closing' and directs customers to the nearest shops in Bracknell and Maidenhead.

The stores, which are under the Arcadia Group branch, will also see Tophop and Topman stores close across the country.

The last remaining stock is now being heavily discounted.

Debenhams has recently come under threat after its owners announced 22 closures, suggesting the high street is suffering due to online sales growing.

However, local shoppers who frequent the store will be pleased to know that the Reading branch in The Oracle shopping centre will remain open for the time being.
