Colleagues of PC Andrew Harper were brought to tears as they paid tribute to their brave friend when laying flowers and messages in his memory.

Police officers have been visiting the crossroads between Ufton Lane and Lambsden Hill nea Reading where PC Harper's life was sadly taken last week (Thursday 15).

Dozens of bouquets of flowers and messages of love for PC Harper have been placed at the scene of his death to honour his life and sacrifice.

Amongst the notes lays a heartfelt message from his mother.

The Daily Mirror explained the note reads: "We will never recover – our darling Andrew.

“You will never feel the pain of growing old or a broken heart.

"I feel your presence comforting me in my darkest hours and minutes and know there’s enough to share with all those who love and need you right now. Sleep tight sweetheart. See you one day."

It was signed "forever loving, Mum, Phil, Sean, Amelia Xxx”.

Twenty year old Jed Foster from Reading has been charged with PC Harper's murder and is due to appear in Reading Magistrate's Court today (Tuesday 20) at 10am.
