The terriyfing attack happened last Monday, August 5 in Earley when a woman in her 20s was walking from Newquay Drive onto Rushey Way towards the bus stop about 10pm.

She saw a man running towards her and started running away from him.

As the number 21 bus arrived at the bus stop, the man caught up with the woman and punched her in the face.

She broke free and ran back towards Newquay Drive but the man caught up with her and grabbed her handbag, causing a number of items to fall out.

The man took her phone and purse from the floor and the woman ran along Newquay Drive.

The man then got into a white car and as he drove off, veered towards her, but didn't hit her, before driving off onto Rushey Way.

The victim sustained bruising to her left cheek. She did not require hospital treatment.

The attacker's vehicle is described as a small white hatchback car, possibly a BMW or a Volkswagen.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Paul Bentley, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim and I’m keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this offence or has any information that may help with the investigation.

“Rushey Way is a busy road with traffic at all times of day and I would like to urge anyone driving past between 9.50pm and 10.15pm last Monday evening to come forward if they have seen anything or have any dash cam footage.

"I would also like to speak to any of the passengers on the number 21 bus that stopped as it is likely they may have witnessed part of the incident.
