CYCLIST has been left with injuries to his legs and torso after being assaulted by two men in Surrey Road, Reading.

Police are appealing for information in relation to the incident, which took place near the junction with Basingstoke Road at about 2.30pm on Saturday, July 13.

Prior to the assault, the victim was cycling along Basingstoke Road towards the M4 when he braked sharply, causing other vehicles behind him to also brake. The victim then left the road and went into a local newsagents on the Basingstoke Road, after leaving he was assaulted.

One of the offenders is described as Asian, in his early twenties, about 5ft 6ins tall and quite muscular.

He was wearing a black polo top and shorts.

Investigating officer, detective constable Maggie Bruce of Force CID based at Reading police station, said: "I am appealing to anyone with information, including dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage of the offence or the build-up to the incident.

"If anyone has footage I would urge them not to post it on social media, but instead share it with the police via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference 43190214056.

“It may jog someone’s memory that the assault happened near to a parked green Volvo estate vehicle.

“The victim sustained a fractured knee cap, as well as bruising to his torso and legs.

He was treated at hospital but has since been discharged.”
