WAR medals along with other valuable items were stolen from a home after burglars smashed into a house last Wednesday (July 10).

Thieves broke into a property in Cholsey and used the victims credit cards later that day between 2.45pm and 4.30pm in Tilehurst.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses after valuable items, war medals and jewellery were stolen.

Burglars smashed through the glass of the victims house in Reading Road and stole distinctive German War medals (including those pictured) and alcohol, jewellery and credit cards.

Police officers are urging members of the public to look out for the items on buying and selling sites, car boot sales and second-hand shops.

They also believe a small silver car may have been involved in the burglary at the time and are urging witnesses to get in touch.

Thames Valley Police would like to speak to a white man who was seen on Wednesday 10 at 11.15am and 2.45pm, wearing light coloured clothing and arm tattoos.

He is believed to be aged in his late 20s to early 30s, around 6ft tall, of a medium build with fair hair.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Frankie Jarvis, based at Abingdon police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who recognises these distinctive medals that are of significant sentimental value to the victims. Please help us in keeping an eye out for these on any buying and selling sites, car boot sales and second-hand shops.

“Equally if you saw or heard anything you feel to be suspicious in the Cholsey area on Wednesday lunchtime please get in touch as your information may be vital to our investigation. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage from between 1pm and 1.30pm in the area on 10 July.

“I would especially like to speak to a man who was seen in the area around the time of the offence who may have vital information about this offence. He is described as a white man aged in his late twenties or early thirties. He is around 6ft tall, of a medium build with fair hair. He was wearing light coloured clothing and had tattoos on his arms.

“I also believe that a small silver car was seen in the area at the time so if you can help us with this line of enquiry then please get in touch.
