A POLICE OFFICER has been left with serious injuries following a crash last night (Sunday, July 7).

Two police officers, who were on duty at the time, were travelling on the A4, Bath Road to the west of Reading when the police car they were in was in a collision.

It happened at the junction of Haden Square and Bath Road at around 5.50pm.

One of the officers sustained a serious injury and was taken to hospital for treatment, but has since been discharged.

The other officer has sustained minor injuries.

No other vehicle was involved in the collision and no-one else was injured.

The road was closed but has now partially re-opened.

Superintendent Colin Hudson, local police area commander for Reading, said: “Our thoughts are with these two officers, their families and their colleagues.

“If anyone has any information relating to this incident, we would ask that they call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101 quoting reference 1050 (7/7) or make a report online.”
